I believe I have, but today that's up to you.While the classic story of using a variety of "analog" tools to manage money does apply to me, the main pillars that pushed me to build Cadence Money were:- Pay for the level of syncing that's used including none- No built-in AI- Fully cross-platform including mobile browsers- Passkeys available day one- Proper Canadian support- No ads even for a bookAfter seven years at 1Password as a Lead PM, I can safely say working on Cadence has been the most fulfilling part of my career. Really thankful for friends, family, and now strangers for helping shape Cadence. It has every feature we needed, and nothing we didn't. I also created an MCP server so you can choose how much AI you want in your finances. Read-only at this point, but open to adding write access in the future to clean up CSV imports. To my disappointment they were... not great. I took a way of comparing qualities and disadvantages of each web search engine back then. What I discovered I cared about the most was privacy (like DuckDuckGo), ecology (Ecosia) and Google index (likely to signal quality of results, Startpage). To my disappointment there wasn't a single one that I could find that offered all 3 of these qualities. After a long time of deciding if and how I could build my own web search engine I decided to do it.At first, for 4 years, it was just a private and ecological meta search engine. But I didn't have the money to grow user base while relying on 3rd party APIs to deliver results. I had to create own index. I spent 1.5 years on web crawler, made from scratch in Rust btw. For some entities without coordinates, I used proxies: Birthplace for humans, port of registry for ships, city of the headquarters for companies.I created a version a year ago without AI. It was already interesting, but lacked a lot of polish and functionality. Now it was fun to complete it with coding agents.You can toggle the different categories on and off in the UI. People and places are off by default, because they overshadow everything else and humans overlap so much.
