Launch HN: machine0 (YC S26) – Persistent CPU and GPU VMs from the CLIhttps://machine0.ioHi HN! I’m Barnaby, founder of machine0 (https://machine0.io). I’m building a CLI for long horizon agent compute: `machine0 new mybox` gives your agent a persistent cloud VM, billed by the minute, from $0.013/hr up to 60 vCPU / 240 GB RAM and GPUs (H100s, H200s etc), with 99.99% VM level uptime. Agents self drive via CLI or MCP.Demo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gyllkZ0M04EAgent workloads are moving from ephemeral to always-on. A coding agent working on a complex feature runs 6-8 hours. Agent orchestrated training & RL runs take days. OpenClaw & Hermes run 24/7. As you run more in parallel:- Resources: a few agents on a large codebase saturate RAM and CPU. Model training and RL needs GPUs you don't have.- Security: `--yolo` on your personal machine is one prompt injection away from exfiltrated credentials.- Availability: close your laptop and the agent dies mid-task.- Isolation: there's no clean line between you and the minimum your agent actually needs.machine0 gives every agent it

The biggest excuse for the Royals offense has now expiredhttps://sports.yahoo.com/articles/biggest-excuse-royals-offense-now-162135342.htmlThere is a lot of incentive for Kansas City Royals principal owner John Sherman, general manager JJ Picollo, and manager Matt Quatraro to make excuses for this year’s poor team performance. It keeps the public more invested, and frankly to do anything else would admit that something in the organization needs to change—which hasn’t really […]

Show HN: Pg_disorder – shuffle or reverse unordered SELECT resultshttps://github.com/viralpraxis/pg_disorderHey HN!I'm interested in chaos engineering, automatically detecting flaky tests, and, more generally, building tools that can find/trigger invalid states in software systems. My latest experiment is pg_disorder, a PostgreSQL extension that automatically shuffles (or reverses) the results of `SELECT` queries without an `ORDER BY` clause. While the order of rows isn't specified, applications (sometimes) implicitly assume that rows will be returned in insertion order. The project was initially aimed at finding flaky tests, but it also helped uncover bugs in projects like Gitea and Rails (see references in the repo). Some DBMSs have this feature built-in, e.g. SQLite's `reverse_unordered_selects` pragma, but PostgreSQL doesn't.I'd love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

Show HN: Minus HDMI hardware ad-blocker with local vision modelhttps://github.com/garagehq/Minus-streaming-stickHey HN! Minus is an open source hardware device that sits between your streaming stick and TV and blocks ads that appear on your TV in real time at 4k60fps.This was made out of a labor of love after seeing nonstop "Hims" ads for months, so I created a hardware-in-the-loop test platform to gather over 80k screenshots of ads and train a custom model to detect and block ads in under 300ms.Since we are blocking the ads at the hardware level we have complete control over the screen, so currently replacing the ads with language learning content, pictures from trips, random fun facts, haikus, etc.Code is open source and the weights for the model are on HuggingFace
