This is not a completely autonomous agent, you can pause, talk, guide the agent on its RE path.Despite the limitations of this approach, up to 60%-90% of websites can be automated/scraped with just raw requests and TLS-spoofing(links to sources provided in the blog)The tool successfully ran against popular websites like, bookmyshow, makemytrip. It was home to early explorations on JS patterns, performance, accessibility, and design systems, years before any of that was mainstream. It featured over 1,000 posts from dozens of authors, including Douglas Crockford, Nicholas Zakas, Steve Souders, & Stoyan Stefanov.Sadly, Yahoo did as Yahoo does, and killed the blog sometime in the 2010s. Upon realizing what the web lost, I scraped everything off the Wayback Machine in 2020, before it eventually disappeared from there as well. The scraped HTML was badly mangled, with broken layouts, missing assets, bad links, and garbled post bodies from years of archive.org's own transformations. Reassembling it by hand looked like weeks or months of effort I'd never realistically get around to. Our books, our code, every stack overflow answer, the dumb forum arguments we had at 2am. The companies creating these models didn't create that knowledge, they scraped it and compressed it, and what comes back out is mostly our own collective output re-encoded and handed back to us. The work is expensive and valuable, so I don't mean to diminish that, but exclusivity on this seems completely unfair. These organizations already play fast-and-loose with copyright, but even if they didn't, we can't all go retroactively copyright every word we've posted on the internet.We all know how patents work. They are a controversial topic, especially in computing, but their intent is to disincentivize secrecy. The compute needed to create these models cost exorbitant sums of money, and I'm all for these companies profiting from this investment, and their own hard work. He came up with the spinner ad and revenue share model, but as a VS code extension. But tbh Id rather not use VS code, so i built the terminal native version as a personal challenge.So Bacon does that, it shows you ads on claude code. There are five surfaces, from least to most intrusive: spinner, statusline, strip, card, and marquee. When an ad shows up, you get a 50% cut of whatever the advertiser paid for that slot.I built in a few hard constraints. Every surface shares one rule: the " Sponsored" marker ships with the slot. Also, the server sets the price, not the advertiser. Your 50% cut is a floor, not a bid, and neither side can move that number.
