Ask HN: What do you think about wireless charging?Since I got a gift of a pair of earbuds with wireless charging, I have been thinking about the energy loss happening during the process. As far as I can tell, wireless charging is (optimistically) 70-80% efficient. Now I agree it hardly matters for small/niche earbuds, but with Apple moving their iPhones [0] to fully wireless Qi charging. I think a 30% waste on that scale (once the ecosystem fallows) could become a problem. What do you think about that waste? Or am I over-blowing the issue?[0] https://onezero.medium.com/dont-be-shocked-if-your-next-phone-has-no-ports-at-all-50a132df0d64

Ask HN: How do you manage your private tech inventory? Many of us have plenty of tech inventory:All kinds of devices, computers, network devices, cables, adapters, gaming consoles, plugs, tools, hardware components, accessories that belong to another device, USB thumb drives, laser pointers, external HDDs, cases, manuals etc..Such a collection can easily end in chaos: - Things do not have a place where they belong and lie around at random places. - It gets difficult to find things when needed. - Things can't be identified or distinguished: Was this the unique special Adapter from connector A to connector B? Was this the graphics card with the defect which looks the same as the replacement exemplar of the same type.It needs a systematic approach to restore order. It is easy to group some things of a kind and put them in a box.But what do you do with all the unique things where you own only a single of it's kind? And how do you recognize a special adapter after years, when it isn't special from the outside? And how do you know after years wh

Ask HN: What should I do with dontbenebby.org, com, and net?I saw an essay on Ask HN the other day by a full on sex offender looking for work, so I thought I'd follow up with my own plea for assistance.I registered the handle "dontbenebby" on a variety of platforms intending to use it for the weekend in Las Vegas for Defcon, but the joke seems to have gotten a bit out of hand.I thought I would get a job offer at Defcon, and abandon it after a weekend of jokingly tweeting like a Chapo, but instead folks took me into the room Steven Paddock would later shoot out of (or one very similar in the same set_) and told me they're not required to hire me, then made a show of making be try to do the OSCP as I had a string of breakins, cyber and physical.I went back again, after that attack, and folks still weren't very helpful. In parallel with the above, I was living with my parents, who abused the fact they were former state and federal officials to do things like slit my mail open", threaten me with firearms, and generally engage in the same abuses that
