Show HN: threadfork – AI meeting notes that run on your MacHi HN, I built threadfork. It's an AI notetaker where the whole pipeline runs locally on Apple Silicon. Your microphone and system audio gets captured without a meeting bot and most importantly your meeting data doesn’t get sent or saved anywhere.I've been building in the privacy + local LLM space for the past several years (I started DataFog, an OSS PII detection library with 300K+ downloads); keeping all the processing and data on-device was a day 0 condition for me when building this out. Granola's updated privacy policy, effective later this week, keeps non-enterprise users opted into model training on "de-identified" data by default. Having built PII detection for a living, I'll say plainly: de-identifying meeting transcripts is really hard. Names are the easy part; deal terms, client details, and health disclosures are the transcript. For the lawyers, consultants, and therapists I've been talking to, the only version of this that holds up is the model never seeing the data at all

Show HN: Clipto-fully local, natural language search over terabytes of mediaHey HN,We recently built Clipto. It’s a tool that lets you search over terabytes of video, audio, and images on your computer, without relying on the cloud.Motivation: we probably all had this similar experience, we know a moment exists in a video or audio, but finding it takes hours scrubbing the timeline. You can send all the media to process in the cloud, but it’s slow, expensive and raises privacy concerns. So we decided to build our own on-device media search engine. How it works (high level):1. We ingest video, audio, image; normalize formats via ffmpeg; run content analysis to downsample the frames for deeper understanding.2. A local ASR pipeline (optimized Whisper) transcribes speech into text and speakers are identified; faces are detected and if known, person id created; a vision model (optimized Qwen3.5) runs on the downsampled frames to detect scenes, actions, objects, OCR and visual descriptions.3. A graph data structure ties everything together into a searchable memory.4.

Lead Full-Stack Engineer Marker Learning – RemoteI have dyslexia. I was one of the lucky ones. Diagnosed at eight, I got accommodations and support before things spiraled. Most kids aren't so lucky. The path from initial concern to diagnosis can take years and cost families upward of $5,000. For many, it never comes at all. In one study, 50% of prisoners were found to be dyslexic, with 80% functionally illiterate. Behind every missed diagnosis is a kid who gets told they're lazy, when the reality is no one ever gave them the right test.Marker Learning is building an AI-enhanced assessment platform that makes identifying learning differences faster, cheaper, and more equitable, especially for multilingual students who are routinely misidentified or overlooked. Imagine if every kid could be screened for learning differences as easily as they're screened for vision. That's what we're building. This isn't a chatbot or a homework helper. We're a Series B company backed by Reach Capital, Andreessen Horowitz, and Primary, running a multi-mill
