Show HN: Effortless App Publishing with Reusable React Native Templatehttps://github.com/beplus-bootstrap/mobileHey HN Community,I'd like to share a project created from my own need for simplicity and efficiency in mobile deployment: a free and reusable React Native CLI Template designed to streamline the deployment process to the AppStores.Minimalism is at its core, focused on the deployment itself, this Template will help you with:- Multi-environment Support: Separate (dev, stage, and prod) environments and all apps installed on your device simultaneously, making testing and iteration much easier,- Environment-Specific Configuration: By integrating react-native-config, the app's behavior is adapted to its running environment and is as straightforward as providing the proper values (in .env or the environment itself),- Simplified Deployment: Creating the apps in Apple Developer + AppStore Connect, managing Code Signing Certificates + Provisioning Profiles and automated deployment – everything's included with a simple Fastlane integration, which makes deploying to both Apple AppStore and Google Mar 7, 2024 1:33 PM

Show HN: LlaMaKey – One master key for all cloud LLM/GenAI APIshttps://github.com/TexteaInc/LlaMasterKeyKey management for multiple users and multiple cloud LLM/GenAI APIs is difficult to be both safe and convenient. Sharing keys among users risks leaking the key and makes it difficult to curb the leakage without interruptions. But assigning one key per user per cloud API results in too many keys to keep track of.Meet LlaMa(ster)Key, the secure and easy solution for API key management: * For each user, one master key for multiple APIs. * The master key is unique to each user. Granting and revoking a user's access won't impact other users. * The actual API keys to authenticate with cloud APIs are never known to users. Never leak a key due to a careless intern. * No code change! Keep using the official Python SDK of the cloud AI APIs, including OpenAI, Cohere, AnyScale, Perplexity, HuggingFace (free-tier inference so far), and Vectara.LlaMaKey works by taking advantage of the BASE_URL and API_KEY/TOKEN environment variables that the official Python SDKs of major LLM/GenAI APIs rely on. Launch HN: Slai (YC W22) – Build ML models quickly and deploy them as appshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=30543228Hi HN, we’re Eli and Luke from Slai (https://www.slai.io/hn/62203ae9ee716300083c879b). Slai is a fast ML prototyping platform designed for software engineers. We make it easy to develop and train ML models, then deploy them as production-ready applications with a single link.ML applications are increasingly built by software engineers rather than data scientists, but getting ML into a product is still a pain. You have to set up local environments, manage servers, build CI/CD pipelines, self-host open-source tools. Many engineers just want to leverage ML for their products without doing any of that. Slai takes care of all of it, so you can focus on your own work.Slai is opinionated: we are specifically for software developers who want to build models into products. We cover the entire ML lifecycle, all the way from initial exploration and prototyping to deploying your model as a REST API. Our sandboxes contain all the code, dataset, dependencies, and application logic needed for your moMar 3, 2022 4:39 PM

What to Do with Spreadsheets in an Organizationhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=24318471I work for a midsized public agency with some very smart but non-technical colleagues(housing, environmental health etc.) I was recently hired to improve our "data infrastructure".I am currently talking to departments to understand the landscape by asking them a few key questions: 1) What data sets have they used in the past year 2) Where and how do they source it (census website, internal databases etc) 3) How frequently do they refresh it and reuse it.I am starting to see a pattern where some datasets are sourced from internal systems with their own backing databases. It's a bit of a clutter but I can bring these different datasets to a centralized warehouse/datalake like environment that has discovery and querying capability. However, there is another consistent thread expressed by departmental analysts - "I get this other data from another agency via an excel spreadsheet as an email attachment" which I am struggling to understand what to do with. At this point I am not seeking a tooAug 29, 2020 6:47 PM

Ask HN: What's is the state of the art of lifelogging?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21268588I want to log everything about my life.A wearable camera paired with advanced computer vision would go a long way, but I haven't found a practical solution yet.I already log the easy stuff:- Computer/phone usage (RescueTime, ActivityWatch, keylogger, TimeSnapper)- Location (Google Maps Timeline, GPS Logger)- Pictures (Google Photos)- Internet usage (Google History)- Fitness (Mi Fit, Google Fit, Strong)- Finance (Mint)I even experimented with 24/7 background audio recording but didn't have much success with Google Cloud Speech-to-Text.The biggest challenge for me is manual logging. Taking pictures of my environment can go a long way (food, receipt, barcode, injury, product, book, ad, ticket, activity, weighing scale) but it becomes more difficult when I need to retrieve and log information from memory (cash spending without a receipt, weightlifting workout, pain, mood, idea, question, todo). I don't like single-purpose apps designed to log a specific domain of events and would prefer soOct 16, 2019 9:36 AM

Ask HN: How good are the local startup scenes in Lisbon and Sofia?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10638815I'm a solo founder and my startup is beginning to get some momentum. To capitalise on this I've decided it's time to move ops out of my spare bedroom and in to a more dynamic environment. Main goal for moving: increase my chances of bumping in to like minded people and finding a co-founder / first hire.I've narrowed the choice down to Lisbon or Sofia (having started with London, Paris, Barcelona, Sofia and Lisbon) and would love to hear the experiences of any HNers who have spent time in either city - especially if it was while bootstrapping your own startup (or working for someone else's)!Things I'd love to know: quality, size and diversity of local talent; quality of local accelerators and investors; how easy/hard it is to find (good) people that want to take a risk and work for an early stage startup; friendliness of the local startup scene. My pros for Sofia:- Betahaus co-working space- Fantastic cost of living (~30% cheaper than Lisbon - which itself is already cheap)- Lovely city,Nov 27, 2015 9:01 PM

Ask HN: Staying Happyhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10104051I really remember it, back to the time when i was in college, i have so much tasks. I needed to attend campus club. Lots of assignment. But the fact i was happy still surprises me.It has been ~1.5 years since i graduated from my college and got to work as a software engineer. I got decent job with decent salary (at least pretty good in my area). The workplace itself considered as a "fun" environment: sleeping pod, ping pong table, coffee machine and no cubicles. Also, workload is lighter than class assignments. But it seems like i am not happy anymore -- i don't know why. (Btw, yes, i do love coding. I do some of my pet projects in weekend)I tried to do so much things (to try) making myself happier: Cycling around the city, playing some game with friends; but none of them seems to be working. After all, i want to create happiness, not to "do something" or "buy something" to make myself happy. I know happiness is intrinsic and subjective. Two persons doing a same thing may perceive that Aug 22, 2015 10:41 PM

Ask HN: Does changing locales to fix productivity doldrums work for you?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=757407The article about the creative bliss of moving to an attractive, cheaper foreign environment to bootstrap a startup:http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=756570... got me thinking on a somewhat tangential question: Does moving around to change your environment actually help you work? Or is it solving the wrong problem the wrong way? From a personal state-of-mind angle that the author is pushing, I guess I'm not entirely sold on the fact that a change of scenery will let a hundred flowers of creativity bloom - in a sustainable way - to an extent that confers upon a startup a meaningful economic advantage. The cost differences might, but I'm not so sure about the aesthetic/spiritual quality.I've moved around a lot in my 23 years. I emigrated from Russia with my parents when I was 6, and moved around the US several times during childhood. Within the last few years spent in Georgia, I've moved several times within the general area I inhabited, including twice within Atlanta. When I was young,Aug 12, 2009 5:53 AM
