Photos: Close-ups of NASA’s moon rocket on the launch padhttps://spaceflightnow.com/2022/04/25/photos-close-ups-of-nasas-moon-rocket-on-the-launch-pad/These images from pad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center show NASA’s Space Launch System moon rocket awaiting a rollback to the Vehicle Assembly Building for repairs. The photos were taken Thursday, April 21, as technicians prepared the 322-foot-tall (98-meter) rocket for rollback to the VAB to replace a faulty helium check valve on the upper stage and troubleshoot a hydrogen leak on the tail service mast umbilical connecting the mobile launch platform to the core stage. Rollback to the VAB is scheduled for Monday, completing the rocket’s first visit to pad 39B. NASA transferred the Space Launch System moon rocket to the pad for the first time March 17, and it arrived at the complex the next morning. NASA is preparing the rocket for launch on the Artemis 1 mission, the first full-up test flight of the giant new rocket and the Orion crew capsule, designed to carry astronauts to the moon on future Artemis flights. Show HN: Spoonfy – Intuitive foreign-language listening practice using AIhttps://github.com/athairus/SpoonfyDemoHey HN! Loooong time lurker, first time poster here. I made this project and I'd love to hear what you think about it. There's tons of info in the repo's README, but here's the short version:Spoonfy, an FOSS project, is essentially the so-called Telenovela method (learning languages through subtitled video) on steroids. It presents translated subtitles in a clever way that turns them into something akin to X-Ray vision, helping you make sense of & learn from the foreign-language audio you hear. This video (also linked in the README) demonstrates the effect (Note: It's Despacito so it's slightly NSFW): https://drive.google.com/file/d/12qYKv_yaqGr9GWvHPtE9ng2foJV...I'm looking for help with the project (the demo isn't exactly user-friendly right now) but I'll also gladly accept any feedback. I feel this project has incredible potential: Due to its similarity to how we all learned our first language it could be the first step towards becoming a native --not native-like, but native-- speake

How Do I get my Co-Founder to Leave?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31061164Hi there,I developed my business myself & spent ~$3k of my own funds. When my website was 95% complete, I got one of my friends, Zake* to create my logos about a month before we went live. We agreed that I’d pay Zake $300 for the logos. Zake changed their mind & said I should rather give them 5% of my business, co-founder title & a “seat at the table”. This was 1.5 years ago & it was their initial offer, I didn’t negotiate with them.We didn’t sign any type of contract at all (bad idea, I know). We verbally agreed that Zake would a) post on social media 5 days a week b) do our SEO c) update the website images once a month, minor things like changing the website banner d) make any misc documents look good (no content just aesthetics) ie our pitch deck e) attend our weekly team meetings. I pay for everything, which I think is fair.On our website Zake is listed as a co-founder, but we have no signed contract/ paperwork whatsoever, their shares are sweat shares & they haven’t invested any m

Ask HN: I'm looking for a specific blog post about game programming, any help?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=31036500It's one of my all time favorite posts, but somehow I can't find it. My memory is hazy but if I had to paraphrase I'm pretty sure it started off something like this:Every time I see a game with a changelog like this, I cringe: Peasants who become queens no longer continue to beg for bread Horses no longer stay frozen after entering and exiting the pause menu NPCs no longer attempt to open doors that have been removed Fixed bug where NPCs were unable to see in dark rooms even after lighting a candle. What's happening here is that the game has a huge state, and different parts of the state are being modified all over the place. This means that when extending the state in part A, you need to understand the entire codebase to know every state update that now needs to be changed. What you need to do is centralize all the code that modifies the state into one giant function, and this function should takes an enum describing the thing that triggered the change and modify the state accordingly

Show HN: Programmatic – a REPL for creating labeled datahttps://programmatic.humanloop.comHey HN, I’m Jordan cofounder of Humanloop (YC S20) and I’m excited to show you Programmatic — an annotation tool for building large labeled datasets for NLP without manual annotation.Programmatic is like a REPL for data annotation. You: 1. Write simple rules/functions that can approximately label the data 2. Get near-instant feedback across your entire corpus 3. Iterate and improve your rules Finally, it uses a Bayesian label model [1] to convert these noisy annotations into a single, large, clean dataset, which you can then use for training machine learning models. You can programmatically label millions of datapoints in the time taken to hand-label hundreds. What we do differently from weak supervision packages like Snorkel/skweak[1] is to focus on UI to give near-instantaneous feedback. We love these packages but when we tried to iterate on labeling functions we had to write a ton of boilerplate code and wrestle with pandas to understand what was going on. Building a dataset programm
