Show HN: I got frustrated with SMILES, so I built onehttps://github.com/sangeet01/scriptHi HN, I'm an undergrad in Nepal. For the last 35 years, computational chemistry and AI drug discovery have relied on SMILES to represent molecules. It was great for the 1980s, but today it is a massive bottleneck. It’s non-canonical, its stereochemistry parsing is fragile, and it completely breaks down when trying to represent organometallics, alloys, or polymers. To parse it reliably, you basically need a 300MB C++ dependency (RDKit) relying on decades of hard-coded heuristics.I got frustrated and realized that representing matter isn't a graph theory problem—it’s a linguistics problem. To fix it, I built SCRIPT (Structural Chemical Representation in Plain Text). I based the core parser on the generative linguistics of Pāṇini’s Sanskrit grammar. Instead of treating a molecule as a string of dumb nodes, SCRIPT treats it as a language of Roots, States (Vibhakti), and Relationships (Sandhi).I just released V3 today for Pi Day.How it works & what it fixes: • Aromaticity without the mess: S

Show HN: PDR AI – Open-source startup accelerator engine for non-technical chaoshttps://github.com/Deodat-Lawson/LaunchStackShow HN: PDR AI – Open-source startup accelerator engine for non-technical chaos (marketing, PRDs, onboarding)A couple weeks ago I shared PDR AI as an open-source tool for startup doc mess[](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47258661). Since then I've doubled down on the core vision: it's not just another RAG chat—it's an AI-powered accelerator engine that helps technical founders skip the non-technical pitfalls and move faster. As a solo technical founder, I wasted too much time on fragmented marketing plans, incomplete PRDs, onboarding docs, legal templates. PDR AI centralizes it all in a self-hostable knowledge base and actively accelerates progress by:- Document Sanity Chekcer (Verifying the content validity and consistency in the documents, extracing key information) - Marketing pipeline: Content ideas/trends for Reddit/X/LinkedIn/Bluesky, optional web-enriched analysis. - Team acceleration layer: Role-based access, invites, approvals, audit trails—great for small teams or accel

Show HN: Prompt optimizer that refactors messy prompts using a P-C-V pipelinehttps://how-to-grab-me.vercel.app/I built a small web tool that tries to automatically refactor messy prompts into structured prompt specifications. The motivation was simple: most prompts people write are poorly structured, which often leads to unstable AI responses. So I implemented a Proposer–Critic–Verifier optimization pipeline.Proposer restructures the prompt. Critic evaluates clarity, structure, and task definition. Verifier checks consistency. Arbiter detects convergence. The system runs several iterations and produces a structured prompt specification. It usually takes around 30–40 seconds to run the full optimization loop. The tool also includes: • prompt quality analysis • explain mode • version history • prompt diff viewerDemo: https://how-to-grab-me.vercel.app/Would love to hear if people building AI tools find something like this useful.

Launch HN: Spine Swarm (YC S23) – AI agents that collaborate on a visual canvashttps://www.getspine.ai/Hey HN! We're Ashwin and Akshay from Spine AI (https://www.getspine.ai). Spine Swarm is a multi-agent system that works on an infinite visual canvas to complete complex non-coding projects: competitive analysis, financial modeling, SEO audits, pitch decks, interactive prototypes, and more. Here's a video of it in action: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_2-ggpZz0Q.We've been friends for over 13 years. We took our first ML course together at NTU, in a part of campus called North Spine, which is where the name comes from. We went through YC in S23 and have spent about 3 years building Spine across many product iterations. The core idea: chat is the wrong interface for complex AI work. It's a linear thread, and real projects aren't linear. Sure, you can ask a chatbot to reference the financial model from earlier in the thread, or run research and market sizing together, but you're trusting the model to juggle that context implicitly. There's no way to see how it's connecting the pieces, no

Frustrating experience reporting bugs on major companies websites as a developerhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47356674This has happened to me twice in the past month. First, a major banking website has a problem linking to Fidelity Full view and Rocket Money. Once the callback hits the bank's website there is a generic error saying that there's a problem with the bank/my account and to call the bank to resolve it.After a year of hoping this would resolve I escalated it to executive customer service twice, stating that I was a technical user, giving the full URL and screenshot clearly showing the text. Again, this was not an error message on the linker's side (and it happened with two different third parties) it was on the bank's side, and I stressed I was a technical user and to escalate to the technical team. They closed this request twice saying "They couldn't find anything" and the only option would be for me to go in to a branch, show them this error on my laptop and escalate it again for them to believe me. What??Again, a few days ago, on a major e commerce site, my order disappears and is replac

CostRouter – Cut AI API costs 60% by routing to the cheapest capable modelhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47356604Hey HN,I built CostRouter because I noticed 70-80% of our AI API calls didn't need GPT-4o/5. Simple text extraction, basic Q&A, formatting — all going to the most expensive model.CostRouter is an API gateway that scores each request's complexity (0-100) and routes it to the cheapest model that can handle it:- Simple queries → Llama 4 Scout ($0.0001/1K tokens) - Medium → Gemini 3 Flash ($0.0005/1K tokens) - Complex reasoning → stays on GPT-5.2 or Claude OpusIntegration is one line — just change your base_url: client = OpenAI( api_key="crx_live_...", base_url="https://cost-router-alex10020s-projects.vercel.app/api/v1" ) Pricing: we charge 10% of what we save you. If we save you $0, you pay $0.In a 100K request/month test: - Before: $3,127/mo (all GPT-5.2) - After: $1,245/mo - Net savings after our fee: $1,694/moTech stack: Next.js, Supabase, Vercel. The routing engine scores prompt complexity based on length, keyword analysis, and structural patterns, then maps to the cheapest model abov

Looking for Partner to Build Agent Memory (Zig/Erlang)https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47356098I’m working on a purpose-built memory platform for autonomous AI agents.Right now, agent memory is stuck between two hohum options: RAG (which loses relational topology) and Graph Databases (which require massive pointer chasing and degrade under heavy recursive reasoning).I'm building an alternative using Vector Symbolic Architecture (Hyperdimensional Computing). By mathematically binding facts, sequences, and trees into fixed-size high-dimensional vectors (D=16,384), we can compress complex graph traversals into O(1) constant-time SIMD operations…and do some quasi brain-like stuff cheaply, that is, without GPUs and LLMs.The design is maturing nicely and strictly bifurcated to respect mechanical sympathy:• The Data Plane (Zig): Pure bare-metal math. 2GB memory-mapped NVMe tiles via io_uring. Facts are superposed into lock-free 8-bit accumulators strictly aligned to 64-byte cache lines. Queries are executed via AVX-512 popcount instructions to calculate Hamming distances at line-rate.

Show HN: CastReader – Free TTS Extension That Reads Kindle Cloud Readerhttps://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/castreader-tts-reader/foammmkhpbeladledijkdljlechlclpbEvery TTS browser extension fails on Kindle Cloud Reader. The reason: Amazon renders text using custom font subsets where glyph IDs don't map to standard Unicode. You select text, copy it, and get garbage. The DOM is useless. CastReader solves this by intercepting KindleModuleManager to capture font and token data, decoding glyph mappings from the binary font tables, then running Tesseract.js OCR locally in an offscreen document to calibrate the decoder. The final text comes from glyph decoding (not OCR) so it's accurate enough for word-level highlight sync. WeRead (the largest Chinese reading platform) has a similar problem — it renders everything on canvas. CastReader uses a main-world content script injected at document_start to intercept fetch responses containing chapter data before the page consumes them. For normal websites, there's a 3-tier extraction pipeline: 15+ site-specific extractors (Notion, Google Docs, ChatGPT, Claude, arXiv, etc.), a learned CSS selector rule system,

Show HN: BoltzPay – fetch() that pays for AI agents (x402 and L402)https://github.com/leventilo/boltzpayI built an open-source SDK that lets AI agents pay for API data automatically. The problem: a growing number of APIs return HTTP 402 Payment Required. Coinbase reports $50M+ in x402 transactions over the last 30 days. Stripe and Cloudflare joined the x402 Foundation last month. The payment layer of the internet is being built right now, but existing HTTP clients just fail on 402 responses.BoltzPay makes it one line: const agent = new BoltzPay({ budget: { daily: "$5.00" } }); const data = await agent.fetch("https://x402.twit.sh/tweets/search?words=AI+agents"); The SDK detects which payment protocol the endpoint uses (x402 or L402), signs the payment with the developer's own keys, and returns the data. No dashboard, no API keys to manage per provider. Just fetch().What's under the hood:* Multi-protocol: x402 (EIP-712 signed USDC on Base/Solana) + L402 (Lightning invoices via NWC/Alby)* Parallel protocol detection: ProtocolRouter probes 402 headers with Promise.allSettled(), auto-fallback

Show HN: jj-benchmark – Evaluating AI agents on Jujutsu version controlhttps://tabbyml.github.io/jj-benchmark/Hi HN, Meng from TabbyML here.We decided to build this simply because we find Jujutsu (jj) really interesting, and many folks on our team have started trying it out recently. Since it introduces a very different workflow compared to traditional Git, we thought it would be a fun challenge to see how well current AI coding agents can actually use it.To build this, we created a semi-automated pipeline. We used AI to research the official Jujutsu documentation and websites, which then helped us bootstrap a dataset of 63 distinct evaluation tasks. Each task includes instructions, bootstrap scripts, and tests. We then ran the evaluations using the Harbor framework and our Pochi agent. Some interesting insights from our initial leaderboard:Claude 4.6 Sonnet is the clear winner: It achieved a 92% success rate (passing 58/63 tasks), beating out Opus and OpenAI's top models. It seems exceptionally good at parsing the novel CLI rules of jj. The Speed vs. Accuracy Trade-off: While GPT-5.4 sits at #

Show HN: StudioIndex – A directory to find AI video production studioshttps://studioindex.aiI built StudioIndex because I kept seeing incredible AI-generated commercials (Nike, Coca-Cola, Anthropic's Super Bowl spot) but had no way to find out which studios actually made them or how to hire similar talent.Marketing teams are starting to look for AI video production partners, but there's no central place to compare studios, see their work, or understand pricing. So I built a curated directory where you can browse AI-native and AI-augmented studios, watch their best work, and filter by the tools they use (Runway, Veo, Midjourney, Kling, etc.).The site is free to browse. Studios can list themselves for free too. I'm curating listings manually right now to keep quality high.Would love feedback on the UX and what data points would be most useful when comparing studios.I'm just strating this, so it's work and progress, don't hsitate to share good videos and studios.

The Strait of Hormuz: A systems engineering view on the $20k drone threathttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=47350179Hi HN. I'm an industrial technology engineering student, and I recently mapped out the physical and logistical bottlenecks of the Strait of Hormuz.Instead of the usual military focus, I analyzed this chokepoint strictly through a systems failure and thermodynamic lens. Specifically:How a single policy cancellation from maritime war-risk insurers at Lloyd's of London would freeze the global fleet in port instantly. The physical constraints of the two 3km-wide shipping corridors. How cities like Dubai and Riyadh rely entirely on desalination plants with only a strict 72-hour water buffer before total collapse.I put together a 10-minute visual here:https://youtu.be/eLuuja8UWb0Would love to hear your thoughts on the structural vulnerabilities of this node.
