Ask HN: Are you also experiencing issues with Azure Redis in Western Europe?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48460988Context: we've been using Azure Cache for Redis for about two years now. We have constant health checks that require a successful ping on redis. Normally, we might have a small connection issue every 2-3 days well outside office hours, not much else.Over the last two days (June 8 and June 9) we have seen constant network issues between our runtimes (Hetzner, Western Europe) and Azure Redis. I cannot discard it being something on our end. But it is highly suspicious that we have Redis issues while we have minimal to no network issues with Azure Postgres, which is in the same zone as Azure Redis. We see no issues reported by Azure, but that's not much of a reassurance. We've experienced Azure outages in the past (for example, sending of emails) that never had an official mention in any public status page.If you're also experiencing network issues with Azure services in Western Europe, it'd be great to know we're not the only ones.Jun 9, 2026 1:37 PM

Show HN: Bitemap – See where everyone would bite a sandwichhttps://www.bitemap.food/sandwich/mcdonalds-cheeseburger-3862dc92I know the internet likes to celebrate perfect bites and debate where to take the next bite of half-finished sandwiches. So I built Bitemap. You see a photo of a sandwich, you tap where you'd take your next bite, and it shows a heatmap of where everyone else bit. It's early. Most of the sandwiches are ones I uploaded to seed it and the maps are still filling in, so some are thin. You can add your own too.No signup, nothing to install. Curious what you think, and where you'd bite. Happy to answer anything about how it's built.Jun 9, 2026 1:29 PM

Show HN: Sencho: a multi-node Docker-compose managerhttps://github.com/Studio-Saelix/senchoHi HN, I am the creator of Sencho (https://github.com/Studio-Saelix/sencho). It's a self-hosted docker-compose control plane for managing one server or a small fleet of hosts from a single interface. Here's some the core architectural decision i built it around:- compose files and .env files stay on the host filesystem. It operates on them but does not replace them as the source of truth. - each node uses its local Docker socket. There's no exposing Docker's TCP socket over the network. - remote hosts can be connected directly via a distributed API mode or through an outbound-only Pilot Agent for hosts behind NAT or stricter firewalls. - multi-node management is not an afterthought. It supports stack deployment and updates, Git-backed stacks, webhooks, rollback, logs, container and resource management, image scanning, backups, scheduled operations, fleet views, RBAC, SSO, and other operational tooling that I found myself wanting while managing compose environments. This is 100% docker-comJun 9, 2026 1:26 PM

Show HN: Atlasphere – Live Infrastructure Diagramshttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48460286Hi HN. My name is Andrey. On a regular business day, I'm a software engineer working at AWS. Outside of work hours, I spend time on my hobby - writing code.I was once building a pet project that allowed customers to spin up fully synchronized blockchain nodes within just a few minutes. The backend was split into a control plane and a data plane, each with its own AWS account. Later I added two more AWS accounts. One for shared RPC nodes. One for the Analytics Service.Since I love to visualize things, I used drawio to visualize the architecture. With time, I noticed a pattern. I'd write some code, add a few lambda functions, update my drawio diagram, write more code, introduce a few more resources, test things, see that everything works fine and go to sleep with a smile on my face. Next week I'd check my diagram, and shockingly, it's missing some of the resources! This kept happening for a few more weeks until I decided to fully abandon the project until my infrastructure diagrams could Jun 9, 2026 12:35 PM

Show HN: Welter's game, a little Nim-like combinatorial gamehttps://welter.fuglede.dkHi HN! Here's a little game I (and my buddy Claude, cf. the obvious CSS gradient tell) set up to explain to my kids some of things we were working on at work.So in the game you're taking turns moving coins down a line until no moves are possible. If you've taken a course on combinatorial game theory, you'll have come across the game of nim and you can think of this one as a variant of nim where there can only be a single coin in every square. The theory of how to play it isn't quite as well-established as for nim though; play with enough coins and I certainly find it quite tricky to mentally reason about whether a position is good or not.One fun fact about Welter's game is that its winning positions form the codewords of a particular error-correcting code called the constant weight binary lexicode (Conway and Sloane, 1986). What that means is that being good at the game is the same as being good at decoding messages in that code. Probably more fun to just play the game though.Jun 9, 2026 11:58 AM

Show HN: Gravity – Interactive solar-system simulator, from Newton to Einsteinhttps://qunabu.github.io/Gravity/Just for fun and self education, I've built this over a weekend to teach myself why orbits exist, not just show planets going around. Something that was never clearly explain to me in school. It opens with a guided tour that builds the idea up step by step: two bodies and the equal/opposite force, inertia (the Sun is removed and Earth just drifts straight), then "an orbit is falling and continuously missing," cosmic velocities with a little rocket, Voyager 1 & 2's real gravity assists (the clock runs the actual 1977–1989 dates so the planets orbit into their grand-tour alignment and the slingshots line up), and it ends on Einstein — gravity as curved spacetime, the classic rubber-sheet well. What's real: every body uses its real radius/mass and J2000 orbital elements; positions come from solving Kepler's equation each frame. You can toggle to an N-body mode (symplectic leapfrog) that shows live energy drift (~1e-6%) so you can see the integrator is honest. The only thing faked is scaleJun 9, 2026 11:46 AM

Ask HN: Do you need go-to-market strategy at early stage?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48456858My startup is pre-revenue. Last week i was in one of the local AI Startup meet up, and attended some GTM office hours hosted by some folks from big company marketing team. Was told Go to market strategy is necessary, need professional helps, it will guide how i run growth campaigns(cold emailing), branding(color). and that i am not able to aquire customer maybe because i don't have a go-to-market strategy, and later on followed by a invitation for deeper GTM consultation(paid).Because i haven't successfully gotten any customer, i cannot rule-out this possibility. But i've watched almost all YC videos on how to get first customer,1. having a GTM is never mentioned not to mention as a mandate2. in fact, from one of the Aaron Epstein's video, a sincere, manual, email works best, with a razor sharp ICP, this doesn't sound GTM at all, it's just doing this one, hard-coded step, no strategy is needed.I would love to hear from you folks on your take before i either go work with these GTM folks,Jun 9, 2026 5:27 AM

Show HN: Startup sci-fi novel that took me 5 years to writehttps://www.blockchainednovel.com/It started after reading Stephen King's "On Writing" where he likened the art of writing as the unearthing of an archeological site after you stumbled upon a unique bone of a story. His advice was to choose a domain you are deeply intimate with. For me, I've been a struggling startup founder for 15 years—enough material to inspire a novel.A 1,000-word writing exercise turned into a complete 125k-word manuscript over the course of a year.In year 1, I learned the sheer joy of unencumbered creative flow and authentic expression. A similar flow I used to get from coding (and more recently vibe coding). What made it effortless was a mindset that I was writing for the sake of it, not with the intention of publishing. After a year of keeping it close to my chest, I decided to show it to a few close friends. They liked some of it, destroyed some of it. Some ultimately encouraged me to publish it.In year 2, I learned about the chasm between writing for myself and writing for an audience.
