Show HN: Ilseon, a Minimalist Focus Filterhttps://github.com/cladam/ilseonI’m excited to share a new productivity app I recently released on the Play Store. It was born out of pure necessity to solve a problem I am constantly faced with: cognitive overload and task paralysis.Since traditional to-do apps only added to the mental noise, I eventually built a small tool for myself called Ilseon. I needed something that would actually reduce cognitive load.I have added some features that helps me in my daily chaos:Context filtering: I work better when I only see what belongs to the role I’m currently in (Work, Family, Health, etc.). Switching context hides everything else, which stops me from bouncing between unrelated tasks or getting overwhelmed by a big master list.Time blocks with a big visible countdown: This externalises time for me in a way alarms or calendars never did. It gives me one clear block to focus on, and the timer helps with time blindness without being stressful. Still figuring out if adding alarms is a good idea or not..A quick reflection loop

gigs.quest
Show HN: Real-time freelancer marketplace with per-second billinghttps://gigs.quest/Hi HN! I'm launching Gigs.Quest, a platform where startups can hire freelancers instantly through live video rooms.Problem: Traditional freelancing platforms are slow. You post a job, wait for proposals, interview candidates, negotiate rates, then finally start work. For quick tasks, this is overkill.Solution: Create a room, describe what you need, and qualified talent joins live within 5-12 minutes. Collaborate via HD video and screen sharing. Pay per second ($0.02/sec = $72/hr). All sessions recorded. Why this works: • For startups: Get immediate help without hiring overhead • For freelancers: Monetize expertise without bidding/proposals • Trust: All sessions recorded, transparent earnings, Stripe-backed paymentsReal use cases from beta: • Debugging production outage (saved 3 hours vs hiring process) • Quick design mockup review (12 min session, $14 cost) • Architecture consultation for new feature (45 min, $54)Tech details: • Pre-authorization holds that scale (start at $5, double at

Pursue Idea (Non-AI Related), but Have No Idea Where to Start?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46019216So...I'm a new grad from a basic public uni. Some good experience under my belt (internships). But don't really have a huge network or group of people I can help iterate on my idea. I've built an MVP, showed it to some of the smartest people I know and have gotten a unanimous "This isn't shit, and actually provides value to developers."But... I'm not sure where to go from here, It's an idea I built out of frustration with work and a way to just simplify my work flow handling distributed systems. I have no clue really what it entails really brining my idea to life. I think it has a good chance of being something that is acquired rather than standing alone. Again, though unsure what to do as it's just me, a fresh new grad, whose basically showing their shiny new toy to everyone I know.project idea: visual monitoring for distributed systems, combines are your transaction into one place and provides feedback on better traceability for systems.Looking for some general advice, I honestly jus

Show HN: NB2 Hub – Free Nano Banana Pro AI Image Generatorhttps://nano-banana2.appHi HN,I recently launched nano-banana2.app , a free, minimalistic AI image generator built around the latest Nano Banana Pro models. The goal: make it easy to generate high-quality, photorealistic images with precise camera settings, lighting presets, and character consistency — even if you're not a prompt expert.Key Features:Supports Nano Banana Pro models (Pro excels in text rendering, detail retention, and photo realism)You can try it here: https://nano-banana2.appI built this because I was constantly switching between AI tools trying to get consistent output for creative and product imagery. I wanted a fast, clean playground that focuses solely on the Nano Banana family of models, which recently gained a lot of traction in the AI image space.Would love your feedback on:What tools / controls / workflows you’d want next?Any use cases you'd want to see supported? If you've tried Nano Banana models: what results surprised you most? Thanks for reading — happy to answer anything! — Zane

ShowHN: RepoScout – A multi-platform Git repo search tool in Rusthttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46012864Hello HN,One day, my friend and I just got an idea: we needed a simple, fast utility that could search across GitHub, GitLab, and Bitbucket simultaneously from the terminal. The continuous context-switching between web UIs, browser searches, and our editor was a constant friction point, so we decided to build a dedicated TUI application for repository discovery. We chose Rust for the performance and robustness, making this our first significant project with the language. The result is RepoScout, a fully keyboard-driven Terminal User Interface (TUI) built on the ratatui framework. Here is a clear statement of what the project does: RepoScout allows users to search, analyze, and manage repositories across multiple Git platforms without leaving their terminal.Technical Details & ImplementationWe struggled and learned a lot while implementing these core technical components:- Vector Search (Work In Progress): This was the most complex technical challenge. Our goal was to let users find proje

Show HN: Marimo VS Code extension – Python notebooks built on LSP and uvhttps://github.com/marimo-team/marimo-lspHi HN! We're excited to release our VS Code/Cursor extension for marimo [1], an open-source, reactive Python notebook. This extension provides a native experience for working with marimo notebooks, a long-requested feature that we’ve worked hard to get right. An LSP-first architectureThe core of our extension is a marimo notebook language server (marimo-lsp [2]). As far as we know, it’s the first notebook runtime to take this approach. The Language Server Protocol (LSP) [3] offers a small but important set of notebook-related capabilities that we use for document and kernel syncing; everything else is handled through custom actions and messages.By building on LSP, we aim to create a path to expose marimo capabilities in additional environments (beyond VS Code/Cursor). The notebook features in LSP are still limited, but as the protocol evolves, we’ll be able to shift more functionality out of the extension and into the language server, making it available to a wider range of editors and t

Show HN: Small hardware box that runs local LLMs and exposes an OpenAI APIhttps://axis-one-psi.vercel.app/I’ve been building a small hardware box that runs local LLMs like Mistral, Qwen and Llama, and exposes an OpenAI compatible API on your local network. There’s no cloud, no login system and no telemetry. I built it because a lot of small firms want ChatGPTbstyle tools but can’t use cloud AI for privacy or compliance reasons, and most don’t want to deal with GPU servers, drivers, Docker or model configs. The aim is to make local AI feel as simple as plugging in a router.Right now the box boots into a very simple web UI where you choose a model and start using it. The API follows the OpenAI format for chat completions and embeddings. It can run different models depending on the hardware you pick, either a Jetson Orin Nano or an x86 mini-PC with a GPU. It stores data locally, supports basic RAG indexing and only exposes itself on the LAN by default.A few things still aren’t working. There’s no multi-user rate limiting yet. The RAG quality is basic and I’m still improving chunking and reran

CS/ML PhD: Debating Between Internship and Full-Time Offershttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45971132I am a CS PhD student set to graduate sometime mid-to-late next year (2026). I interned this summer in the ML research group of a major financial institution (Goldman/Morgan Stanley/JPM). The team was good and I generally enjoyed the work and they have opportunity to publish at regular intervals. They also gave me a verbal full-time offer to join them after PhD completion (sometime mid-late 2026). I should be expecting the official letter sometime soon and the salary would be comparable to L4 salaries at Google. Now I also happen to apply to and receive an offer for a research scientist intern at Meta for summer 2026 (flexible start dates). This isn't super-intelligence or anything, but fairly mature team that works on research/scientific problems in their core business. The team lead reached out to be and mentioned that they do have headcount for full-time and are indeed looking to transition some of the interns to FT based on internship perf and an internal interview. The Meta team's

Running a self hosted server with IPv6 is still a nightmare in 2025https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45967106First of, a disclaimer: I have NOTHING against IPv6. I find it great. I find also AWESOME that all my devices behind my ISP's router/modem/box (I'll just call it a "box"), are provided with a public IPv6 address.1.But then...you have mobile clients who use 4G/5G. And guess what, some telecommunication operators, in 2025, still do not support IPv6 over 4G. That means, that you're feel completely MAD as YOU can access ALL you services from "outside" your local network using a computer. But when you switch to a phone -> you dead. Then you enable the WiFi connection on your Phone and NOW your services are accessible again2.Some software DO NOT support IPv6. For instance Arma 3 server doens't support IPv6. Arma 3 is a 2013 game, which is still sold for a good price on Steam (27.99€, last time I checked https://store.steampowered.com/app/107410/Arma_3/), and the game is still played A LOT https://steamcharts.com/app/107410. So money is flowing, don't tell me this couldn't be fixed/updated.An

I'm finally ready to share something I've been working on.So here's the thing - my wife and I were constantly arguing about money. Not because we didn't have enough, but because we could never figure out who spent what, where our budget was going, and whether we were actually saving for that new car we kept talking about. Every finance app I tried was not built for us.That's how Famverge was born. What it does: You can create a group "space" and invite whoever (spouse, roommates, even your financially responsible teenager) Everyone can log expenses and incomes, but you control who sees what with custom permissions Scan receipts with your camera and it figures out what you bought or got money from automatically Talk to it - literally just say "I spent 15 bucks on lunch" and it logs it See where all your money actually goes or comes from with some pretty neat charts The thing I'm most proud of? Everything is encrypted end-to-end. I don't want to see your financial data any m
