Ask HN: GDPR in 2022 – What do I need to know as a solo founder?It looks like things have been getting worst on the GDPR front, for what I can tell.I am getting messages from users telling me that that can't use my service because things like Google Fonts and Google Analytics have been essentially made illegal in certain European countries like France, Austria and Germany, due to recent court rulings.A user told me they know of people who got fined because of this.Is this true? I can only find a few references here and there, but there seems to be truth to it.My main question is, what did you do in your case to make your product GDPR compliant?Any links to services that you used would be very helpful.Here is what I did so far for compliance.I generated the legal documents like terms and conditions, privacy policy etc. using a third-party document generation service, and I added a PDF with a GDPR Data Process Agreement (DPA) listing the platforms that I use (Firebase, etc).I've set the region of my production databases to Europe.To give more context

Ask HN: Moving abroad at 30, no friends/girlfriend, need adviceI will move to London to work for one of the big techs, but I know no one there. Most employees work remotely. I have a few friends home but in the long term no one will follow me in London. I have been exploring options to make a few new strong and long lasting friendships and finding a girlfriend there.Periodically I read on HN stories about how difficult it is to make friends after 30. Ask HN: Freelancers, how do you let your clients know when you go on holiday?I'm a freelance web developer, I work from home, in London (UK). I tend to have 2-4 clients on the go at any one time. I keep my time very flexible, I have a young child and I want to be able to do parent visits to the nursery, and trips out etc.All this means that I don't tend to schedule my week with my clients in any meaningful way. They'll say what their priorities are and I'll try to work as quickly as I can on those features, but I try to avoid deadlines (where possible).Recently I went on holiday for a week. It struck me that I had no process for communicating my holiday plans. No structure for communications whilst I was away. No fallback or out-of-hours support. I phoned/emailed my clients and they all said that I was to have a great time, so no big deal this time.Next time I go on holiday I'd like a clear plan for how to do it. Online Computer Science BS Degree?Does anyone know of a good online undergraduate Computer Science program? My girlfriend is almost done her Masters of Science in Nursing online at Vanderbilt. All her courses are online, she does clinicals at local hospitals and private practices, and flies to Nashville for a long weekend every couple of months. I've been looking for something similar for Computer Science, but can only seem to find programs at scam schools. If it's possible to get the credentials which will give you the ability to suture and prescribe narcotics online, shouldn't computer science be handled similarly?Yes, I am aware of the social implications (e.g. college is a great place to meet people, develop as a person, etc...). Ask HN: How do we get our US Cellular (T-Mobile?) phone number back? (complex)Hello HN, I volunteer at a small school who lost its phone number with US Cellular at the end of June. They had some kind of business cellular landline service which US Cellular decided to discontinue, probably due to the upcoming merger at the time.I can't get US Cellular or T-Mobile to do anything because the US Cellular account is deactivated, but when I look the number up on unlec.com I can see it belongs to US Cellular still. So, my understanding is that the company is technically able to allow it to port or set up a new line of service, but the front line workers are unable to do anything about it.Is there anyone I can talk to about this? School starts on Monday. Unfortunately this got lost in the shuffle over the summer and we didn't even realize this was a problem until this week (month?).
