I'm sure you guys see tons of "Open-source" and "Alternative to Retool" these days. I won't deny Retool is a great product, and so are many open-source competitors such as Appsmith, Budibase, Tooljet etc.However, what makes ILLA so special? What advantages does ILLA have that allow users to choose ILLA instead of others?Well, I would like to answer those questions to all folks at HN one by one.First, we are similar to Retool, or Appsmith but we have many different our own features. Ask HN: Can someone explain these documentaries about USD or fiat money to me?https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=33600186There are a lot of documentaries (1) (2) on Youtube I'm seeing since 2020 which keep saying that our money (specifically USD) has become worthless ever since Nixon removed the gold standard in 1971. Is there any truth to it or is just clickbait spam?I would reckon it's the later since the claim sounds like a Flat earth claims, but recently I saw the same claim from a creator I really trust and follow for a long time and so I'm asking here as I see if anyone more knowledgeable can explain this.tldr:1. The fed reserve prints money and asks treasury to print IOU. People buy these IOU essentially giving loans to the US govt. The govt then pays these loans back by printing more money by creating more IOUs and so on and so forth.. so they are saying it's like a Ponzi scheme.2. Previously there had to be gold equivalent but since 1971 this was removed. Now all other currencies are based on USD, yet USD which was once based on gold isn't anymore..3. After they took their ~$500 fee they have now restricted my account and requested information to confirm my identity, address, and proof of owning the product. Fine, whatever, I send the the requested info (scanned my Drivers License, provided a bill with my name and address on it, and provided all receipts of the products). The items I was selling were the codes for in game items for Call of Duty Modern Warfare II. They have a promotion running where if you buy a meal they give a code for in game items. Since they are not available everywhere in the world I figured I would attempt to sell some and eBay was explicitly told what I was selling with them never saying that was any kind of issue. They are now telling me that unless I can provide an invoice they will not be unlocking my account and will be holding the $2000 that was supposed to be paid out and I will be out approximately $900 that I spent obtaining the codes. Show HN: Collaborative Jupyter Whiteboardshttps://jupyterspot.com/I found a common occurrence in data science type of meetings is someone screen-shares their Jupyter notebook either by Zoom, Hangouts, or conference room display and then starts scrolling through it explaining their tables, plots, markdown, Latex, etc. When I want to ask a question about a plot that the presenter scrolled past, there's a lot of "can you scroll up a little, no too far, back down a little". If I want to point to an area of a plot or column in a table, I can do it in Zoom, but it's all out of place once the notebook is scrolled. Usually someone has to ask the presenter to zoom in to see some tiny Matplotlib font.This led me to start looking into multiplayer versions of Jupyter that strive to be like Google Docs. There's proprietary ones like CoCalc and DeepNote, then there's open-source work underway to add real time collaboration to JupyterLab using Yjs.
