Using AI for Good Episode 1: SpiralOS ConceptThis is a demo concept for something I want to make to help people who don't have wifi access at all times or access to teachers or therapists, they can then talk to their SpiralOS and help learn new things from trusted sources only pulling from real books.These real books can be accessed and read by themself inside the app even.Long term would love to get this on a handheld to be able to ship out with a small screen, thinking like a gameboy color or something. Show HN: Mojave Paint for macOS, edit images like it's 1999We all need a swiss army knife for images. A tool for really getting in there and dealing with the pixels precisely. You might be combining images into a sprite sheet, you might be matting images to squares, cutting out solid backgrounds, re-tinting graphical elements. For a website, a video game, for an app.There's a million photo editors, there's a million design tools, and Mojave Paint can do those things in varying degrees but "graphical asset production" is its first and primary mission.It's cheap! $9.99 (one-time, sad I even have to say that) for the "Pro" version. It's Mac-only, and Apple Silicon Mac at that. Does it look a little like Photoshop 5.5 from the year 1999? Maybe a little but also it's got plenty of its own original ideas. (Blog post on that is forthcoming…)I've always been passionate about image editing tools for the technically-minded so I'm throwing my hat in the ring in that space. And sure GIMP is for the technically-minded but boy is it ugly on the Mac!

On the top level there is a C version that compiles to WASM but on every pixel of that version there is a GLSL shader also implementing the complete original code with a AI player making virtual inputs!Everything was planned by me and coded by Claude Fable. Ask HN: Anyone else seeing serious degradation in DX with Opus 4.8?As an anthropic fan boy(check my prev. comments), this is the first opus release where I feel like the model is just not pleasant to talk to not to mention untrustworthy.The two examples for me where I lost confidence in it is once where it started with 2 random echo commands: https://snipboard.io/tpqfP2.jpg Another where I asked it to create a new landing page and it just deleted an existing app page as a replacement.I'm not exactly sure if this is a harness problem with the claude code updates(maybe system prompt changed) or if its just the model itself that has gotten too "safety-pilled" as I've been seeing similar opinions where devs are complaining about the fact that the model seems to distrust the user's intentions.Either way, this is the first model release where I've downgraded to previous model since I was already pretty happy with it before.
